The organization maintains an extensive collection of primary source materials including documents, maps, newspapers, and oral histories that are invaluable for researchers and genealogists.
The organization's collections and programs illuminate important aspects of New York's heritage, including immigration, Dutch colonial history, financial history. Ellis Island processed over 12 million immigrants entering the United States.
