HistoricalSite.org is a small, independent project. The fastest way to reach us is email. We read every message and usually reply within three to five business days.
Report an Error
We take accuracy seriously. If a research guide gives a wrong date, a dead link, or outdated advice about a records office, or if a directory listing has the wrong address, founding year, or website, tell us the page URL and what should change. If you can point us to the official source, we can fix it the same day. Corrections are made directly on the page and the "Updated" date in the page header is changed.
Add or Update a Historical Society Listing
Listings are free. Send the organization's name, city and state, street address, website, founding year, and one or two sentences about its collections or museum. We verify each submission against the organization's own website before publishing. If you represent the organization and want your existing page expanded with details about research services or hours, send the text you would like us to work from and we will edit it to match the site's format.
Suggest a Research Guide
Our guides come from questions readers actually search for: when a house was built, who lived at an address, where someone is buried, what business stood on a corner. If you have a question that none of the existing guides answer, send it. Questions that several readers share become the next guide.
Research Requests
We do not perform individual research, and we do not hold records ourselves. For help with a specific house, family, or building, start with the historical society for your county and the state page's list of archives. Our guide to working with a local historical society explains how to ask for a lookup and what it usually costs.
Advertising, Press, and Partnerships
Historical societies, libraries, and archives are welcome to link to any page on this site and to reuse our directory listing of their own organization. For other partnership or press questions, use the email above with a short description of what you have in mind.
